Doherty Joins Academy of Educators

Christina M. Doherty, MD, an assistant professor of radiology at WashU Medicine Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR), was inducted into the university’s Academy of Educators, an institutional coalition focused on advancing health science education and fostering innovation in teaching.

Membership in the Academy of Educators is highly selective and based on demonstrated service and commitment to education. The academy brings together academic medical educators dedicated to preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals through engaging and innovative teaching methodologies.

Doherty is a radiologist in MIR’s breast imaging section, where her clinical and academic interests include breast disease, breast cancer screening and emerging imaging technologies. An MIR alumna, she completed an advanced abdominal imaging fellowship following her diagnostic radiology residency at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. She earned her medical degree from Southern Illinois University School of Medicine.

With her induction, Doherty joins fellow MIR faculty members who have contributed to the academy’s educational efforts, including  James R. Duncan, MD, PhD; Tyler J. Fraum, MD; Jennifer E. Gould, MD; Cylen Javidan, MD; Mariam A. Malik, MD; Parisa Mazaheri, MD; Michelle M. Miller-Thomas, MD; Anup S. Shetty, MD; Monica Shokeen, PhD and Pamela K. Woodard, MD.

Doherty was formally inducted during the academy’s Education Day on October 8, 2026. During the ceremony, her impact across all levels of medical education was highlighted during the ceremony: “In her 16 years of practice in academic medicine, Dr. Doherty has consistently demonstrated a passion for training the next generation of radiologists. She is well-deserving of this honor in recognition of the countless ways in which she has positively impacted the educational experience for so many medical students, residents, fellows and junior faculty. There are so many areas of education where Dr. Doherty shines.”
