Patient Care

Doctor and Patient LargeMallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR) has been providing clinical diagnostic radiology services for more than 75 years and has earned the reputation of a radiology leader.  MIR is a large and complex radiology department—a necessity for providing top quality radiology services for the expansive Washington University Medical Center hospitals and clinics.

Our clinical, or patient care, areas are equipped with highly advanced imaging and computer systems, ranging from state-of-the art digital radiography systems to the computer-based Picture Archival and Communication System (PACS). MIR maintains and improves efficiency by continuously upgrading systems that shift from the use of plain film to 3D imaging and digital radiology.

Our expert radiologists, working with skilled nurses and technologists, perform and interpret more than 750,000 examinations and procedures each year. Combine this experience and expertise with productive research and training programs and you have a top-notch radiology facility for diagnosing and treating diseases.
