Biomedical Optics and Neurovascular Imaging Lab

The Şencan-Eğilmez Lab, also known as the Biomedical Optics and Neurovascular Imaging Lab, is focused on elucidating the complex interplay between oxygenation, blood flow, microvascular structure, and metabolism in health and disease. We integrate state-of-the-art in vivo optical microscopy methods, molecular probes, and new experimental approaches for preclinical animal studies in brain and beyond.

Our People

The lab, led by Ikbal Şencan-Eğilmez, PhD, is dedicated to cultivating multidisciplinary excellence across a range of fields, including optical microscopy, neuroimaging, biomedical engineering and computational sciences. We are committed to promoting diversity within our team and fostering a culture of equity and inclusion.

Projects

We engineer advanced and accessible optical microscopy methods for understanding and improving human health through a wide range of biomedical applications.
