Parsons Named 2026 American College of Radiology Fellow

Matthew S. Parsons, MD, professor of radiology for WashU Medicine Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR), was named a fellow of the American College of Radiology (ACR), one of the organization’s highest honors. Fellowship is awarded to ACR members who have demonstrated superior service, made significant strides in scientific or clinical research, contributed to literature and provided outstanding work as a radiology educator. Members are elected and conferred by the organization’s Board of Chancellors.

Parsons is a neuroradiologist who serves as director of MIR’s neuroradiology fellowship program and director of neuroimaging at Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital. He is widely recognized as an educator and received the 2024 WashU Medicine Academy of Educators’  Exemplary Educator Award, which honors faculty who build lasting legacies as teachers and mentors. He was also awarded the WashU Medicine Dean’s Impact Award in 2026 for his dedicated excellence and sustained commitment to patient care.

An active member of several professional organizations, Parsons is affiliated with the Radiological Society of North America and the American Society of Neuroradiology. He is an MIR alumnus, having completed a neuroradiology fellowship after a diagnostic radiology residency at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. His clinical experience also includes military service as a U.S. Army major and diagnostic radiologist in Iraq and Kosovo.

Parsons was officially inducted into the fellowship class in a formal convocation ceremony during the ACR Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., in May.
