Sweet Treats and Seasons Greetings from the MIR Cookie Exchange

Each December, current and former WashU Medicine Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR) residents come together to participate in a heartwarming holiday tradition: the annual cookie exchange. This beloved event, now in its 33rd year, celebrates the season and serves as a testament to the camaraderie that flourishes within the MIR community.

The cookie exchange began over three decades ago, initiated by Janice W. Semenkovich, MD, a professor of radiology and chair of the Radiology Resident Selection Committee. Her vision has grown into a cherished occasion that unites generations of MIR alumni.

The annual cookie exchange not only embodies the holiday cheer but also reinforces the strong bonds within the MIR community. It is a perfect blend of tradition and friendship that serves as a sweet reminder of the values that underpin MIR’s training programs: collaboration, support and memory making.
