Castro Lab

The Castro Lab combines next-generation neuroscience approaches with high resolution behavioral analyses to identify how the brain and metabolic organs regulate affect, motivation, and metabolism. We seek to understand what brain areas or circuits control affect versus motivation, how affective processing is modulated by different neuropeptide systems, and how can we develop novel tools to better answer biopsychological questions.

Our People

Led by Daniel Castro, PhD, the lab merges the fields of psychology, neurobiology and technology development to investigate the biological mechanisms of endogenous peptides in neural and metabolic systems.

Projects

The Castro Lab uses optical imaging, genetic, pharmacological, and viral vector approaches for high resolution dissection of neural circuits and metabolic processes.
