Ashwin Singh Parihar, MD, assistant professor of radiology at WashU Medicine Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR), was selected as the 2026 William W. Olmsted Fellow in Radiology Education Journalism by the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA). The fellowship is a prestigious and competitive program designed to cultivate emerging leaders in radiologic scholarly communication and scientific publishing with an emphasis on radiology education. The opportunity provides early-career radiologists and trainees with a mentored, immersive experience within RSNA’s publication and editorial activities. Fellows receive a stipend of $5,000 and are invited to work with the RSNA editorial offices to tailor the fellowship to their specific area of interest.

Parihar is a member of the nuclear medicine clinical section, with research interests in functional imaging to improve disease characterization and patient outcomes, as well as in identifying novel theranostic targets in radiotheranostics.

An active contributor to radiologic publishing and peer review, Parihar currently serves as an associate editor for Radiology and has received the journal’s Editor’s Recognition Award with distinction in 2024, along with special distinction in 2023 and 2025. He has served on the editorial boards of several journals and previously held roles as deputy editor and associate editor on the Radiology Trainee Editorial Board.

Parihar has earned several honors for his work beyond publishing, including the RSNA Honored Educator Award and the RSNA Trainee Research Prize in 2023, followed by the RSNA Roentgen Resident/Fellow Research Award in 2024. He also serves as co-chair of the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging’s Committee on Quality and Evidence and as an at-large member of the board of directors for the American College of Nuclear Medicine.

“Dr. Parihar has distinguished himself through his accomplishments in research, education, peer review and editorial service, as well as his dedication to advancing nuclear medicine and molecular imaging,” said Christine Cooky Menias, MD, editor of RadioGraphics and MIR alumna, in an RSNA announcement. “Through the 2026 Olmsted Editorial Fellowship, he will gain firsthand experience with the editorial decision-making process and educational mission of radiology publishing, further strengthening his contributions to radiology education, research and scientific communication.”
