A Warm Welcome to MIR’s Newest Class of Residents and Fellows

The beginning of the academic year is an exciting time at WashU Medicine Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR) as the department welcomes its newest class of radiology residents and fellows. While this stage of training is among the most challenging stages of a radiologist’s career, it is also one of the most rewarding. MIR provides an environment where trainees learn from internationally recognized faculty, gain hands-on experience across a wide range of specialties and clinical settings, and develop the skills needed to provide exceptional patient care. Along the way, they become part of a collaborative community that fosters mentorship, professional growth and lifelong connections.

To help trainees get acquainted with their new environment, colleagues and peers, the MIR team hosted several welcome events during orientation, including a luncheon and happy hour designed to foster connection and community.

During the welcome luncheon, trainees were invited to partake in a catered meal alongside faculty and staff. Several department leaders shared a few wise words, including MIR Director Pamela K. Woodard, MD; Martin N. Reis, MD, diagnostic radiology residency program director; and Naganathan B. Mani, MD, interventional radiology residency program director. They welcomed the trainees to the department, offered advice for the years ahead and expressed their excitement for the new academic year.

The celebration continued with a happy hour at Dressel’s Public House in St. Louis’ vibrant Central West End. The informal gathering allowed trainees to unwind from their busy week and begin building the relationships that will support them throughout their training.

As the newest class begins its training, the entire MIR community is excited to support their success and celebrate all they will accomplish in the years ahead.
