MIR Hosts Spectroscopy Summer School
WashU Medicine Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR) joined forces with the Society for Functional Near-Infrared Spectroscopy (SfNIRS) to provide an opportunity for researchers of all career stages to engage with the fNIRS community and foster learning, networking and collaboration. fNIRS is a noninvasive brain imaging technique that uses infrared light to measure blood flow and oxygenation.
Hosted at WashU Medicine, the three-day 2025 fNIRS Summer School included workshops, lectures from leading experts and interactive sessions designed to appeal to a wide range of interests and expertise levels. About 100 people from around the world attended virtually or in-person, exploring topics ranging from fundamentals to experimental design and getting hands-on experience. Attendees connected with peers, mentors and industry leaders, fostering discussions and collaborations that will advance fNIRS research. There were also tours of lab spaces in the Couch Biomedical Research and East Imaging Buildings.
Additionally, attendees connected off campus at City Foundry, a food hall located in Midtown St. Louis.
