Translation of Virtual-Pinhole Magnifying PET Technology to Clinical Whole-Body Cancer Imaging

Goal

This project develops a novel imaging technology, namely the Augmented Whole-body Scanning via Magnifying PET (AWSM-PET), to enhance the image resolution and sensitivity of a clinical whole-body PET/CT scanner. The goal is to improve the diagnostic accuracy of PET/CT for the detection of small metastases in cancer patients.

Enhancing the Root-Rhizosphere Phenomics Platform for Improving Crop Productivity

Goal

This project applies structural imaging technologies (CT and x-ray microscopy CT) and molecular imaging technologies (PET and Cherenkov luminescence imaging (CLI)) to study plant-microbe interaction. The primary goal is to develop the next generation crops and bio-products that will enhance the food productivity under global climate change. The secondary goal is to understand the mechanisms in plants that control carbon partitioning in order to increase food productivity and/or carbon capture.
