Jha Honored with National Science Foundation CAREER Award
Abhinav K. Jha, PhD, assistant professor of radiology for Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology, has received a five-year, $500,000 CAREER Award from the National Science Foundation. The award will fund his work developing new approaches to help process data from list-mode imaging systems.
The CAREER Award is one of the most prestigious awards in support of early-career faculty who model the role of teacher-scholar through outstanding research, excellence in education and the integration of education and research within the context of the mission of their organization.
Jha, also an assistant professor of biomedical engineering at the McKelvey School of Engineering, aims to use these systems to collect and store data for every photon detected rather than producing a single image from a continuous stream of data as traditional imaging systems do.
