Debbie L. Bennett, MD, chief of breast imaging for Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR) at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, was honored as a Hometown Hero during a special night dedicated to raising breast cancer awareness

Hosted by the St. Louis Blues and Siteman Cancer Center, the Pink at the Rink theme night took place during the Blues hockey game against the New York Rangers at Enterprise Center in downtown St. Louis. The evening aimed to educate attendees about breast cancer and build a supportive community for those affected by the disease. Bennett, also an associate professor of radiology, was joined by breast cancer survivors and other health-care professionals on the arena ice to be recognized.

In her role as breast imaging chief, Bennett oversees screening and diagnostic mammography services. Throughout the game, she educated fans about breast cancer symptoms and the importance of regular preventive screening mammograms.
