Shokeen Receives Women In Molecular Imaging Network Mid-Career Award
Monica Shokeen, PhD, vice chair for diversity, equity, inclusion and justice (DEIJ) and associate professor for Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR), received the 2023 Mid-Career Award from the Women In Molecular Imaging Network (WIMIN), an interest group within the World Molecular Imaging Society. This honor recognizes exceptional mid-career women scientists who demonstrate outstanding potential for contributions to the molecular imaging field. Shokeen was honored for her scientific work and contributions, as well as her dedication to diversity in science and mentorship of trainees.
A talented researcher and leader, Shokeen is the principal investigator of the Imaging Without Borders Lab based in the Biophotonics Research Center, where she investigates the underlying mechanisms of disease using molecularly targeted imaging agents to develop novel approaches for imaging cancer, autoimmune and cardiovascular diseases. She was recently appointed as vice chair for DEIJ after serving as director of MIR’s Office of DEIJ. She is also the director of the Molecular Imaging Center.
A former chair of the WIMIN interest group, Shokeen accepted her award at the 2023 World Molecular Imaging Congress in Prague, Czech Republic.
