Shokeen Receives Research Grant to Target Multiple Myeloma

A project led by Monica Shokeen, PhD, assistant professor of radiology for Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, is one of eight to be included in a $2.1 million round of cancer research grants awarded by Siteman Cancer Center. Funded through its Siteman Investment Program, the goal of the grant is to support and accelerate the pace of innovation in cancer research.

Shokeen’s project, “Theranostic Approach to Chemo-Resistant Multiple Myeloma through VLA-4 Imaging and Nanotherapeutic Targeting,” seeks to develop proof-of-concept evidence of a new targeted combination nanotherapy for multiple myeloma.
