C2AIS

Research

C2AIS advances the foundations and applications of computational and AI-enabled imaging. Our research spans how images are acquired, reconstructed, analyzed and used to support scientific discovery and clinical decisions. We connect imaging physics, computational methods, artificial intelligence and foundational imaging science to develop imaging technologies whose performance and reliability can be rigorously evaluated.

Foundational Science and Methods

Developing imaging approaches that connect physical models, sensing technologies and computational methods to capture meaningful information.

Transforming imaging measurements into informative images through model-based methods, inverse problem theory and AI.

Developing methods to extract information from images and integrate it with clinical, molecular and other data to support discovery and decision-making.

Establishing principles and practical methods to evaluate task-specific performance, characterize uncertainty, identify unreliable image content and assess generalizability.

Application Areas

Advancing imaging methods for cancer detection, characterization, treatment planning and assessment of treatment response.

Developing computational imaging approaches to study brain structure and function and investigate neurological and psychiatric conditions.

Connecting imaging and computation to support procedure planning, real-time guidance and assessment of therapeutic interventions.

Addressing imaging challenges across development and diverse populations, with attention to variation, generalizability and clinical needs.

Extending computational imaging methods to scientific questions beyond medicine through collaborations across engineering and the natural sciences.
