Austin J. Hannemann, MD

Diagnostic Radiology Resident

Graduation Year:
2028

My hometown: Alpine, Utah
My teachable medical school moment: Too many to count. I would recommend paying attention during anatomy dissections and stay humble during clerkships.
I chose MIR because: The amazing faculty. As a WashU medical student, I was lucky enough to do several radiology rotations here and each radiologist was knowledgable, kind, and focused on teaching residents.
My personal interests (hobbies, sports, hidden talents, etc.): Basketball, disc golf, yard work, reading, and puzzles (Sudoku, jigsaw, crossword, Wordle, etc.).
My favorite go-to meal: Grilled cheese sandwich.
I’m excited about living in St. Louis because: It's a fantastic place to raise a family. My wife and I moved here in 2019 and fell in love with the family friendly culture and affordable cost of living. Our children love the Zoo, the Science Center, the Magic House, and all the parks.
Something most people don’t know about me: During undergrad, I worked at a mental health facility and was once punched in the face by a patient requiring stitches.
Anything else you should know about me: I don't like wearing scrubs.
