Achilefu Elected to National Academy of Medicine

Samuel I. Achilefu, PhD, the Michel M. Ter-Pogossian Professor of Radiology and director of the Optical Radiology Laboratory, was elected to the National Academy of Medicine during its annual meeting on October 18th. Membership in the academy is considered one of the highest honors in the fields of health and medicine. Achilefu was recognized for his pioneering work in the optical imaging field which has led to the discovery of a new molecular entity that can deliver drugs to many types of cancer as well as the development of wearable goggles that highlight cancerous cells during surgeries.
