Science Is the Star at SNMMI 2026: PET-RTRC in Los Angeles

Members of the PET Radiotracer Translation and Resource Center (PET-RTRC) at WashU Medicine Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR) attended the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) Annual Meeting in Los Angeles. The conference featured a vibrant scientific program, a poster session and opportunities to highlight current activities and collaborations.

Several PET-RTRC members presented their work and collaborative projects at SNMMI, including:

• Yongjian Liu, PhD, professor of radiology and TR&D 2 leader, presented “New Ways of Imaging Fibrosis and Collagen Formation.”
• Vikas Prasad, MD, PhD, discussed the important role and voice clinical trial managers play in higher level oversight of radiopharmaceutical therapy trials.
• James Thackeray, PhD, of Hannover Medical School, presented “Molecular Imaging of Cardiovascular Inflammation.”
• Albert Sinusas, MD, professor of medicine at Yale School of Medicine, shared updates on a collaborative project with TR&D 3.
• Jaume R. Otaegui Rabanal, PhD, PET-RTRC TR&D 2 and a postdoc in the Liu Lab, was awarded the Cardiovascular Young Investigator Award for his work “Theranostics of immune-related adverse events in cardio-oncology based on CCR2 PET imaging.” Learn more about Otaegui Rabanal’s work in Aunt Minnie.
• Hong Chen, MD, PhD, a postdoc in the Tu Lab, TR&D1, presented on the imaging characterization of S1PR2.
