Gastonuioti Publishes Paper on Breast Density and Cancer Risks in Diverse Populations

Aimilia Gastounioti, PhD, assistant professor of radiology, and colleagues from the University of Pennsylvania have published a paper studying the relationship between short-term changes in mammographic density (MD) and breast cancer risk. Breast density may change over time in a person’s life; however, dense breasts have potential implications for breast cancer risk and their density is considered to be an essential biomarker in breast cancer screening. The researchers conducted a retrospective analysis of MD and MD change over time and breast cancer risk among a large, racially diverse screening cohort.
