García-Reyes & Castro Selected for Gilliam Fellows Program

Rubén García-Reyes (left), a doctoral candidate in the lab of Daniel Castro, PhD, and Castro were selected for the 2024 cohort of the Gilliam Fellows Program. The pair will receive $53,000 annually for up to three years to support their research into how opioids can affect appetite by studying neural circuits in the brain using innovative imaging techniques such as optogenetics and dual-color fiber photometry.
