Baseball with the Benzinger Lab

It was a beautiful summer evening for baseball as members, students and collaborators of the Benzinger Lab watched the Gateway Grizzlies take on the Schaumburg Boomers at GCS Credit Union Ballpark. Team bonding is important on and off campus, so attendees went to nearby Sauget, Illinois, to see St. Louis’ Frontier League professional baseball team, which is a partner league of Major League Baseball.

The Benzinger Lab may know inside baseball when it comes to radiological research, but for many folks, it was their first time at a Grizzlies game. Attendees met team mascot Izzy the Grizzlie, received signed baseballs and ran the bases until they were going, going — gone! Rooting for the home team paid off as the Grizzlies secured a 7-6 victory.
