Masatoshi Inoue, PhD, is an assistant professor of radiology and a principal investigator in the Biophotonics Research Center for Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He aims to establish a research program combining protein engineering and tool development with systems neuroscience to study the neural representations of adaptive and maladaptive social behaviors. He is working on imaging tools including developing a new class of genetically encoded photoacoustic sensors for noninvasive brain-wide imaging of neural activity. Inoue earned his doctorate in neurochemistry from the University of Tokyo.
