Maria Rosana Ponisio, MD, is an assistant professor of radiology at Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR) at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. Ponisio also serves program director of the nuclear medicine residency program director and oversees the combined diagnostic radiology/nuclear medicine residency track. An alumnus, she completed a nuclear medicine residency and fellowships in pediatric radiology and neuroradiology at MIR. Ponisio’s research interests include integrating anatomic and functional imaging using simultaneous PET/MR and developing neurologic and body applications using PET radiopharmaceuticals in pediatric and adult patients.
Ponisio is a member of several professional organizations and starts her role as a director for the American Board of Nuclear Medicine in 2021. She completed her radiology residency and earned her medical degree in the La Plata province of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
