Julia C. Kirsten, MD
Diagnostic Radiology Resident
Graduation Year:
2025Hometown: Coral Springs, Florida (elementary and middle school) and Plano, Texas (high school and college)
Describe a teachable med school moment: All of medical school was teachable!
I chose MIR because: MIR has it all — great training, a large class size, and well renowned faculty in a great place to live. The St. Louis area is also a great place to raise kids.
My favorite radiology sign: Cottage loaf sign
My personal interests: My two kids and my spouse, my two ragdoll cats (Finn and Fiona), and my plants. I also like to hike, swim, lift weights, and read history books. We just bought a house so I've been doing a lot of DIY projects which has been a lot of fun.
My favorite go-to meal: Anything Mexican. I'll say fajitas.
I'm excited about living in St. Louis because: STL is very family friendly. There's a free zoo (we went 3x in our first month here), a free history museum, and of course Forest Park. We live in a great house in a great neighborhood. I'm also excited about having four seasons.
Something most people don’t know about me: I lived in Hawaii for 3 years (on Maui) before going to medical school. I also had a completely different career before deciding on a career in medicine.
