Claire K. Zhang

Claire joined the Department of Biomedical Engineering at WashU in the fall of 2024 and is currently a doctoral candidate in the MIND lab, led by Aisling Chaney, PhD. She graduated from California Institute of Technology in 2024 with a bachelor's in bioengineering and a minor in neurobiology.

Broadly, Claire is interested in how early detection of immune changes can predict brain health outcomes. She is interested in using multi-modal imaging tools to observe brain and body immune modulations in the context of neurodegenerative diseases and risk factors, such as Type 2 Diabetes, for cognitive dysfunction.

Outside the lab, Claire enjoys watching and playing basketball, growing indoor plants and exploring the food scene wherever she goes.
