Adrian A. Sanchez, MD, PhD

Diagnostic Radiology Resident

Graduation Year:
2026
Additional Tracks:
research track

My hometown: Nashville, TN
My teachable medical school moment: As a medical student, I rounded with Dr. Richard Light of Light’s Criteria, and it was my job to push his wheelchair and transport him to/from his office. He shared his advice for me as an aspiring physician-scientist and taught me by example how to combine humor, humility and a love for teaching.
I chose MIR because: Before medical school, I was a medical physicist with a strong interest in image science research. MIR, and particularly the research track, is a uniquely well-suited environment for co-developing strong clinical and research skills, as evidenced by the extraordinary accomplishments of its alumni.
My personal interests (hobbies, sports, hidden talents, etc.): I love spending time with my wife and five kids – especially taking the kids fishing at Creve Coeur Lake, weekend outings to the St. Louis Zoo (free!) and going for walks in the Missouri Botanical Garden. I’m also a little league soccer assistant coach, which is a blast!
My favorite go-to meal: spaghetti and meat sauce
I’m excited about living in St. Louis because: This is a fantastic city for families. You can spread out, own a home, have a yard and the schools are fantastic. Not to mention the museums, parks and host of weekend activities.
Something most people don’t know about me: My other car is a 13-passenger shuttle bus.
Anything else you should know about me: Any med students thinking of applying to radiology are always welcome to reach out with questions!
