Continuing the Legacy of Radiochemistry Innovation at MIR

From the first PET scanner to the burgeoning field of theranostics, radiochemistry at WashU Medicine Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR) has driven breakthroughs linking diagnostics to precision medicine. Part of the drive toward translational impact began with the establishment of the PET Radiotracer Translation and Resource Center (PET-RTRC), funded by a five-year, $6.3 million grant first awarded in 2018 and renewed in 2023. The PET-RTRC develops and disseminates PET tracers for preclinical and human imaging studies nationwide, accelerating timelines and mentoring the next generation of researchers.
