Elizabeth G. McFarland, MD, is a professor of radiology at WashU Medicine Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR). She is passionate about addressing healthcare disparities that persist in image-based screening examinations and brings decades of expertise and a national voice to radiology practice and policy in colorectal screening.

As prior chair of the American College of Radiology Colon Cancer Committee, she served as lead radiologist in the 2008 American Cancer Society guidelines and then served on the board of the National Colorectal Cancer Round Table. Locally, her leadership extends to the Missouri Radiological Society Board, where she mentors residents and fosters advocacy at a state level. She helped to start and co-chair the Missouri Colorectal Round Table. McFarland organizes health fairs for the underserved and supports equity-focused programs such as the Breast Cancer Engagement Group at Siteman Cancer Center. She also serves as a liaison for the Siteman Cancer Center to help promote community outreach and engagement.

McFarland earned her bachelor's degree from University of California, Irvine, and her medical degree from University of California, San Diego, followed by an internship in internal medicine at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She completed a diagnostic radiology residency, an MRI fellowship and a fellowship in GI/GU interventional radiology at Massachusetts General Hospital.
