Nuclear MedicineMaria Rosana Ponisio, MD, is an associate professor of radiology at WashU Medicine Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology (MIR). Ponisio also serves program director of the nuclear medicine residency program director and oversees the combined diagnostic radiology/nuclear medicine residency track. She is dual certified in nuclear medicine and diagnostic radiology. She also completed a nuclear medicine residency and fellowships in pediatric radiology and neuroradiology at MIR. Ponisio’s research interests include integrating anatomic and functional imaging using simultaneous PET/MR and developing neurologic and body applications using PET radiopharmaceuticals in pediatric and adult patients.
Ponisio is a member of several professional organizations and is currently chair for the American Board of Nuclear Medicine. She completed her radiology residency and earned her medical degree in the La Plata province of Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Pediatric and adult nuclear medicine studies, PET/CT and PET/MR studies, neuroimaging studies using PET tracers
Research Interests
Integrating anatomic and functional imaging through the application of novel techniques, PET tracers for neuroimaging, combined methodologies such as simultaneous PET/MR
