Ribeiro Pereira Receives WIMIN Rising Star Award
Patrícia M. Ribeiro Pereira, PhD, assistant professor of radiology and a principal investigator in MIR’s Precision Radiotheranostics Translation Center (PRTC), received the Rising Star Award from the Women in Molecular Imaging Network (WIMIN). The award recognizes exceptional early-career scientists who demonstrate outstanding potential and leadership in molecular imaging.
WIMIN is an interest group within the World Molecular Imaging Society that supports the advancement of women in molecular imaging sciences. The group advocates for women’s issues within the society, offers leadership and career development opportunities and highlights the professional and scientific achievements of its members.
Pereira’s Disease Imaging and Therapy Lab investigates advanced imaging techniques designed to target tumors and understand the regulation of membrane receptors in tumors and their microenvironment. The lab’s work primarily involves preclinical multimodal imaging to uncover why some tumors do not respond to or develop resistance against cancer therapies. By integrating fundamental tumor biology with preclinical insights and clinical needs, the lab aims to enhance cancer diagnosis and treatment.
