We help expedite translational research into clinical standard of care.
Since it opened in 2007, the Center for Clinical Imaging Research (CCIR) has provided advanced bioimaging support services for nearly 700 translational research projects. Principal investigators throughout Washington University and the School of Medicine use our facility to conduct their imaging studies. Neuroimaging, oncology, pulmonary, musculoskeletal, as well as spectroscopy and multinuclear imaging encompass the primary areas of investigation. Currently there are over 300 active protocols in the CCIR.
In addition to imaging services, the CCIR provides scientific guidance. We help design, set-up and launch studies of principal investigators who use our facility. We also provide them with information-technology management services to handle, track and process imaging data.
The CCIR is a unique facility that provides services to facilitate the transition of basic research into clinical standard of care. We are a global facility within the university and medical school with approximately 70 percent of researchers coming from outside of Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology.
