Virtual Colonoscopy/CT Colonography

Virtual colonoscopy & colonograpy in St. Louis

Virtual colonoscopy uses low dose radiation CT scanning to obtain an interior view of the colon (large intestine) that is otherwise only seen with a more invasive procedure. Virtual colonography is a type of computed tomography, commonly known as a CT or CAT scan. Like traditional x-rays, it produces multiple images or pictures of the inside of the body. The images generated during a CT scan can be reformatted in multiple planes, and can even generate three-dimensional images. These images can be viewed on a computer monitor.
