Sotiras LabAristeidis Sotiras, PhD, is an assistant professor of radiology and principal investigator at the Institute for Informatics (I2) and the Computational Imaging Research Center based in the university’s Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology. He leads the Medical Imaging and Data Science (MINDS) Lab, which aims to improve patient-specific diagnosis and advance our understanding of brain structure and function in health and disease. The lab develops novel computational methods to extract information from imaging data and delineate patterns in large heterogeneous data sets.
Sotiras earned his undergraduate degree in electrical and computer engineering from the National Technical University of Athens. He completed his graduate studies in applied mathematics at Ecole Polytechnique (MSc) and Ecole Centrale Paris (PhD). Subsequently, Sotiras worked as a postdoctoral researcher and then as a research associate in the Department of Radiology at the University of Pennsylvania. He has co-authored more than 60 peer-reviewed journal articles and papers in premier scientific meetings. He has received funding from the National Institute on Aging, BrightFocus Foundation, McDonnel Center for Systems Neuroscience and the Big Ideas Program.
