Anurag Chahal, MD
Diagnostic Radiology Resident
Graduation Year:
2024Hometown: Gurgaon, Haryana - a city 40 kms south of New Delhi, India.
I chose MIR because: My medical school is a premier institute for medical education in India and being an alum is a special feeling of pride among all of its alumni. I sensed a similar feeling here at Mallinckrodt and I knew I had to come here. Residents want to stay as fellows and faculty because they just fall in love with the people and the program.
My favorite radiology sign: deep sulcus sign - it can potentially save a life!
My personal interests: Running, hiking, sports, just about anything outdoors.
My favorite website: Before 5 pm, Radiopaedia; after 5 pm, YouTube
I'm excited about living in St. Louis because: Running in Forest Park. I usually run to the Art Museum which is 2.5 miles and soak the beauty of its palatial gardens.
Something most people don’t know about me: I can do a headstand for about 5 minutes; however, the skill keeps fading with senility.
What attracted me to radiology: Radiology has all the answers. It gives us the anatomical diagnosis, even when it is occult. And IR, in its full might (i.e. image-guided therapy), is essentially modern medicine.
My favorite quote: "Nobody cares how much you know until they know how much you care.”
My final thoughts: I was told last year in my surgical internship, “Going forward you will realize this program is a family, and you carry the family name. Never do anything that would disrespect the family.” I loved my internship program but I love Mallinckrodt even more, because this is my true family.
