How many positions are available each year?
Approximately 18 applicants are accepted each year. Sixteen of these positions are designated for the traditional Clinical Track; two are for the Research Track. Each track has a separate match code with the NRMP. Candidates may choose to rank one track and not the other, or they may rank both tracks.
How do I apply?
Students must file applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). Contact your Dean's Office for further information, or go online at ERAS.
Does Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology offer preliminary year positions?
Resident candidates must match separately for preliminary years. At the medical center there are a limited number of preliminary positions in medicine, pediatrics and surgery. Candidates invited for a radiology interview may be able to arrange for an interview in the Department of Medicine on the same day. Other preliminary or transitional programs in the St. Louis area include St. John’s Mercy Medical Center, St. Luke's Hospital, SSM St. Mary’s Health Center, and Saint Louis University School of Medicine.
What are the minimum score requirements?
Mallinckrodt’s program does not have a minimum score cut-off; the entire application is reviewed.
Are international medical graduates accepted?
On average, one or two international medical graduates are accepted per training year. Barnes-Jewish Hospital sponsors the J1 visas.
How many letters of recommendation are required?
Three letters of recommendation plus the Dean's letter are required. The candidate should complete the ERAS application as soon as possible, as files will be reviewed when ERAS opens and interviews will begin to be granted upon receipt of Dean's letters.
What is the application deadline?
All applications must be submitted by October 1 through the ERAS system.
