Consistently ranked as having one of the top three residency programs, Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology boasts one of the most prestigious training programs anywhere. Consequently, our residents are selected from among the best and brightest applicants worldwide.
MIR residents gradually build competence and confidence in diagnostic and procedural skills through hands-on training. They are exposed to diverse cases and a large patient volume, and work alongside nationally and internationally-recognized radiologists who are dedicated to clinical care and education. Ours is a collegial atmosphere where residents, fellows and faculty are on a first-name basis.
We have three residency programs:
- Diagnostic Radiology. With an average class size of 16 residents, this program is large enough to allow flexibility in vacation, rotation and on-call scheduling, but small enough to foster lifelong friendships.
- Nuclear Medicine. This program accepts up to five trainees per year and is designed to provide intense clinical training in both adult and pediatric nuclear medicine.
- Interventional Radiology. Launched in spring 2016, this program has both an integrated and independent pathway for dedicated IR residents, and for diagnostic radiology residents who seek to shift their focus to interventional radiology.
