Radiology Rotation Curriculum: Introduction

This four week introductory radiology elective is offered to third and fourth year medical students. The purpose of this elective is to familiarize the student with the scope of diagnostic radiology, including: The consulting role radiologists provide to primary care and specialty providers, an overview of the imaging appearance of common abnormalities, risks/benefits and cost effectiveness of radiologic examinations, and guidelines for ordering common studies as well as specific disease entities and their radiologic appearance and work-up.

Each student will rotate through four of the following radiology services; Emergency Radiology, Breast Imaging, Nuclear Medicine, Pediatric Imaging, Cardiothoracic Imaging, Abdominal Imaging (CT/MR and/or GI/US), Musculoskeletal Imaging, Neuroradiology and Interventional Radiology.

Orientation will be held at 8:00 am on the first weekday of the rotation. This meeting with take place in the Stuart S. Sagel conference room on the 1st floor of the Mallinckrodt building, unless designated otherwise by the course coordinator.
