Radiology Terms

This glossary of radiology terms was compiled by the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA), one of the largest radiological societies in the world.

German scientist Wilhelm Roentgen discovered the X ray in 1895. During the early 1900s several organizations were established to help support and further radiology work.  RSNA was founded in 1915 to "promote and develop the highest standards of radiology and the related sciences through education and research."
