Musculoskeletal Radiology

The Musculoskeletal Radiology staff protocols, monitors, and interprets a wide variety of musculoskeletal examinations, including radiographs, CT, MR, arthrograms, and tenograms. A busy special procedures service performs
nerve blocks
facet injections
epidural steroid injections
bone biopsies
vertebroplasties
joint and bursal injections
other diagnostic and therapeutic pain relief procedures in the axial and appendicular skeleton.

The clinical work is varied, with referrals originating from a high-level sports medicine practice, an aggressive orthopaedic oncology service, renowned spine practitioners, and highly specialized local and academically-oriented, university-based clinical practices. Musculoskeletal radiologists provide imaging services for ther School of Medicine's departments of Orthopaedic Surgery, Neurosurgery, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Rheumatology, and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Inpatient and outpatient services are provided for community-based facilities, including the Barnes-Jewish hospitals in West County and in St. Peters and at the Washington University Orthopedics and Barnes-Jewish Hospital Outpatient Orthopedic Center in Chesterfield, Missouri. A full range of imaging services is provided at the Charles F. Knight Emergency and Trauma Center.
